Stay hydrated or get dropped!

Don't forget: even on an e-bike, it is important to drink fluids regularly. Otherwise the most beautiful tour can come to a surprisingly early end. And this applies not only to the hot season, but then even more so.

A cyclist, whether on an e-bike or bio-bike, needs full bottles on the bike. Because your body consists of approx. 65% water and if you lose too much water, this is to the detriment of your bodily functions and can lead to reduced performance, muscle cramps, lack of concentration, dizziness, headaches and even circulatory collapse.

What do I need for good hydration?

Humans can lose up to more than three litres of fluid - per hour - during heavy physical exertion and under corresponding environmental variables (temperature, humidity, wind, sunshine...).

Even though this extreme will not usually apply to most people who ride an e-bike, it should be noted that even with moderate exertion (thanks to the motor), moderate routes and summer weather, you can also sweat up to one litre per hour. This causes the body to lose not only water but also a lot of minerals. That's why you should definitely take isotonic drinks with you for the ride and not just pure water.

There is a clear answer to the question of transport: bottle cage (as light and robust as possible), if possible two rather than one bottle and rather larger than smaller. Especially in summer, insulated bottles are worth the little extra weight when the drink is still cool after three hours instead of boiling.

If you have room for two bottles, it is perfect to take one isotonic and one pure water. If it's already too tight for one bottle, it's worth trying an alternative swivel mount like our Voxom F5.
